Mother together

A women’s circle for all seasons of motherhood

At every stage, age and season; motherhood is a journey best travelled together.

A standalone circle held on Sunday, 24th March, 2024.

Why connect in a mother’s circle?

Because you’re not alone

So often, modern motherhood feels isolating and lonely.

We can feel so busy, needed and surrounded by people, but really lack the true experience of connecting with and enjoying other people.

In motherhood, we often feel that we have left our old selves behind, but not quite found our new selves yet.

These are common, normal and almost universal experiences which can feel lighter when shared with women who get it.

Sharing these experiences in a mother’s circle shows you that just as your journey is unique, it also isn’t - many others have walked a similar journey and can offer support, solidarity or the true gift of hearing your story.

Is this circle for me?

This is for you if you're seeking a space to both offer and draw strength, regardless of where you are in your motherhood journey.

This is for you if you want to find like-minded women to share the gritty, real and raw moments of motherhood with.

This is for you if you are ready to share and listen to stories of women.

This is for you if you are ready to get to know yourself better and to make some great friendships along the way.

This is for you if you want to laugh, listen, speak and be heard.

Proud mum of two

Registered counsellor specialising in the journey to and through motherhood.

Eight years experience in holding safe and supportive group spaces.

I know through my personal experience of mothering, as well as from the stories shared by the women I work with every day - we are all feeling a sense of loneliness in our modern motherhood, and the want for something deeper.

We spend so much of our time on the surface of conversations and connections with those around us. Rushing between activities; multitasking and managing the mental load. Our lives do not leave much time or space to truly be present with ourselves or to hold deep friendships with others.

This is where a women’s circle is unique - and so damn special.

Circle is the space for you to stop, sit and be present.

To invest energy and focus in yourself.

To be guided through sharing, listening and doing.

To be connected with, known and supported by others.

Text reads: This is what happens when we come together in circle – and I want this for you too!

What happens in a mother’s circle?

Each circle is unique and responsive to the women present, energy and comfort levels of the day.

When guiding you through a circle, I follow a three part flow which may include some of the following:

Part 1: Welcoming. Gently inviting yourself to be present and open to the experience. Engaging in grounding words or practice (lighting a candle, choosing a word or picture card, a natural object).

Part 2: Guided activity. This can take many forms, and encourages women to engage with self reflection and connection. This may be in the form of listening to a piece of music, a guided meditation, movement or breath-work, engaging in an artistic expression of thought, feeling, visualisation (all art supplies provided).

Part 3: Sharing circle. A key feature of any circle is giving space and time to share, from your comfort level, about a provided focus topic or question which resonates with you most. This sharing is not a normal conversation; but an open space and time in which you are listened to without interruption or any expectations.

Choose how much you’d like to share

You are welcome to share from the heart, as much or as little as feels right for you.

FAQs

  • Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer: I get it, it can feel bold to put ourselves ‘out there’ or to try new things, or to share and take up space. I encourage you to acknowledge those feelings and ask if there is a part of you who feels drawn to this circle? If yes, no matter if it’s a small yes, then I encourage you to lean into that and to come along.

I trust that you will find your place in circle; unique and comfortable for you.

I am here to support you through.

  • Not at all! All mothers welcome; exactly as you are (comfy clothes and dry shampoo very welcome!).

We are in it together and I will provide as much guidance and support as needed. Nothing to be scared of or intimidated by!

  • Babies in arms (not yet crawling) are welcome and loved in circle spaces. Due to the nature of our centre piece set up and focus, babies on the move or older children can’t be accommodated in our space.

  • Of course! All mothers are welcome. And if you know other mothers who would benefit from connection, support and community (i.e. all mothers), then please extend the invitation to them.

  • Cancellations due to sickness, with at least 24 hours’ notice, can be transferred to a session at a later date, transferred to another person to attend in your place or held as credit to use with Kate Mungoven Counselling for any available services.
